CARE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
All jewelry by The Spirit Factory is made of high quality sterling silver, 14k gold fill, 14k rose gold fill, brass, copper. pewter and aluminum. All metals are LEAD AND NICKLE FREE.
To make your jewelry last as long as it can, I recommend the following FOR ALL MY METALS:
Do not swim or shower in your hand stamped jewelry.
Avoid exposure to lotions, hairspray/ hair products, sun screen, makeup etc.
Take metals off before washing hands, especially copper!
Store in a room temperature area, i.e (not in the bathroom where heat fluctuates)
Store separately or apart from other jewelry
Use a polishing pad/cloth to clean your piece. Need a polishing pad? Email me. I DO NOT recommend you use any type of jewelry cleaning solution. If your design becomes scratched, the polishing cloth will help to buff out the scratches.
All sterling silver naturally tarnishes, and there are many different factors- climate, lotions, bathing, swimming, etc., that might cause your piece to tarnish faster. BUT with a little polishing with a cloth it will brighten right back up. I will gladly mail you a polishing pad if needed. Storing your piece in an airtight plastic baggie when not worn will also help. NOTE: The copper will get the patina’d look over time and need to be polished with jewelry polishing cloth.
What to do if your letters fade or are no longer black in color:
Use a black sharpie to color the letters in then rub all the access sharpie off with polishing cloth.

14K GOLD FILLED JEWELRY
14K Gold Filled Jewelry is a beautiful, affordable alternative to solid gold. Gold filled is a layer of gold pressure bonded to another metal. Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled literally has 100% more gold than gold plating. Gold filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. It does not flake off, rub off or turn colors.
To make it long lasting, here are some tips:
Gently wipe with a polishing cloth to remove any skin oils, makeup, etc
Warm, soapy water is also a great way to clean 14k gold fill
Sterling Silver is one of the most popular metals for jewelry because of its beauty and versatility. When oxygen or sulfur come in contact with silver, it does cause tarnishing – giving a dirty look to the silver. Fortunately, caring for your sterling silver is not hard.
For best results:
Wear it! Your oils will clean the silver.
Polishing pads are great for sterling silver!
Clean with soap & water, or try one of the many homemade silver cleaners online.
Copper jewelry has a beautiful rosy colour to it – in fact, copper is the metal that turns gold into rose gold.
To care for Copper:
Copper can occasionally turn your skin green (when the metal interacts with your sweat. Simply rinse with soap and water.
Remove copper jewelry before washing your hands, cleaning or swimming.
Remove copper before you apply hand cream, lotions or perfume.
Brass is a relatively inexpensive alloy made from zinc and copper. On account of its bright, golden color, the material has long been a favorite material in jewelry design.
To care for Brass:
For some tarnish try a polishing cloth.
For tougher cleaning jobs, pull out the ketchup (yes, I know it sounds crazy), tomato sauce, or tomato paste. Simply rub a thin coat onto the brass, let sit for an hour or so, and then clean the piece with hot, soapy water.
